A Sweet Reunion!

My Niece Jennifer was put up for adoption over 22 yrs ago. She was found about a month ago by my cousin Jonean on a website that allows people looking for adoptive parents/children to find each other. We've always wondered how she was doing, where she was, thought and talked about her many times when our family got together over the years. She was my Mom's first grandchild, so she was especially happy to find her and meet her again, but not as happy as Jennifer's mom Mary. Mary is my 3rd oldest sister and has not been in the best of health the past 5-6 years due to Lupus. She flew out here from California last Saturday and stayed a week, mostly in Graham. While here she was able to meet her mother, grandma, 3 uncles, 3 aunts and 4 cousins. I'm sure it was emotionally exhausting for her, but we were glad she was able to come and spend time with us.My mom seeing her first grandchild for the first time in over 22 years.Sarah greeted her with open arms.A hug from her mom after sooooo many years!

Pre School!!!

Ammon started Pre School! Ammon for months was asking if he could go to school, almost everyday!! After talking about it with Jason we decided to put him into a pre school even tho he is only 3. After researching and visiting several in the area, we found the one that we felt great about sending him to. He goes two days a week, Tuesday and Thursday from 9-2pm.
This is the smile he wears each day he gets to go. He loves it and is enjoying it so much.He is really into making silly faces right now:) This was one of a hundred the morning of his first day while I was trying to get a few good ones....lolready to go Rain or Shine!

We celebrated by going to the zoo followed my a yummy lunch at Panera Bread! Jason and Ammon went to the movie grill that afternoon with some friends and had lots of fun. We of course finished our day with some yummy cupcakes.

I love this kid soooooo much! He keeps us on our toes all the time. He is so silly and loves to laugh. It is amazing how much and fast he is learning. At the precious age of 3 he knows his address, including city and state. He knows mommy's cell phone number. Knows mommy's, daddy's, Malia's and his own FULL name. He can count to 20 and sometimes higher:) He counts to 10 in Spanish and knows several other words in Spanish also thanks to Dora and Diego;) He knows and recognizes his ABC'S and knows their sounds. Shapes and colors just the same. He is a smarty and loves to learn names of people and characters of toys and shows. His current favorite movie is (within the last week) Alvin and the Chipmunks. He is such a sweet big brother. He tells her she is so pretty and that she is a princess almost everyday. He helps her and loves to make her laugh. Ammon what would we do without you. Sorry about the picture overload, but I can NeVer choose just a few. There are a lot of others I love just as much as these.

We were in Graham for Easter this year. It was fun! Ammon and Malia were able to hunt eggs with their two cousins Alan and Colton. This is our favorite picture Malia. Getting Malia to look at the camera is very, very hard to do. I attempted several different times to take her one year pictures. My mistake is I went all by myself every time. I plan on getting more soon only with extra help! Hopefully we will get a family on as well:)

Malia is just a Doll! We love her soooooo much. She is such a mommy's girl. She is still on all fours and happy being that way. Walking is not on her To-Do list. She's in no rush and neither are we! She is starting to talk (at least we can understand her), she loves dolls and taking whatever her brother is playing with, emptying the contents of a purse or a bag is her specialty. Every animal roars like a lion except a cow who says mmmmmm, she has such a cute little personality and is so different in so many ways from Ammon. She loves her brother so much and thinks he has hung the moon, he can get her to smile the biggest and laugh the loudest! We love you Malia, we're so glad you're part of our eternal family!

New Car Seat!!

Turning ONE means a new car seat! It was very hard to make a decision on which one would be best for Malia. After going to Target too many times to count, I found this one online for 120$ cheaper than the one on Target.com. And YES they are the same exact seat:) It was bedtime when the UPS guy knocked on the door, but I have been so excited about getting it that I ripped it out of the box right away and took a few pictures.Malia's first ride ( yes a few days early) in her new car seat. She loves facing forward and smiles every time I turn back to look at her. Her first ride took us to the Museum of Science and History where we had a blast.
We bought a membership and plan to get good use out of it:)

Ammon was a little jealous of all the new car seat madness so I took a picture of him too! ( Don't worry Ammon, I made a MUCH bigger deal when you got your car seat.)

Jason FINALLY got a chance to run a Marathon:) As most of you know, he trained in the past for one and it was cancelled. He was happy to have the opportunity to run on a Saturday and accomplish his first marathon.... warming up and doing a little stretching

At one point I looked in the rear view mirror and saw Ammons face like this and laughed longer and harder than I had in a long time. We went down town Fort Worth to meet Santa. Ammon did really well and was excited to see him and talk with him.Malia did okay, we were just happy she didn't cry. Jason was able to get her to smile.

Alan was visiting and enjoyed seeing Santa for the third time this year..

After waiting outside in the long line to see Santa, we decided we better hit up Star bucks for some hot cocoa and Carmel apple spice deliciousness.

We met the Hatchers at the mall to play. The kids had a BLAST!!! When we got there the play area was closed for cleaning so we wasted time at Build a Bear. They gave Ammon a heart and he was so happy. He held on to it the entire time he played.

Mommy and MiaMia at the end of the night.... she was pooped out!When we first got to the game and went to our seats, Ammon was so upset! We could not figure out why he was crying, all he kept saying was "BASEBALL!!!" We kept saying we are at the baseball game and we would point to the field and say "see the players." He just stayed upset and he wanted to walk around. We would peek in and look at the game from different entrances and Ammon would want to walk as far down the steps as possible. We just thought he wanted to climb the steps, we finally realized that he was upset because he wanted to be ON the field.... poor guy! We took him to the kids zone and he got his chance to play baseball with daddy's help. He hit three balls ( with help) and loved it! He also played some tee ball.
Ammon wanted his picture taken with Nolan Ryan..... he walk up there and said"CHEESE!"

Malia has been waking up with "cool hair" lately! She is so funny and cute and we love her and her hair! this is her "Flock of Seagulls hairdo" Jason pointed it out and just had to laugh b/c it reminded him of Chandler on "Friends".
Ammon loves wearing our shoes, but this was the first time he put on my heels.... Ha!!!

Easter was pretty good this year... Ammon's birthday fell right on it so we kinda had to combine the festivities over the weekend... Saturday was "Easter" huntin eggs and stuff, Sunday was Easter in the morning and Birthday party with the family in the evening... Only problem was that Ammon was sick, fever and throwing up sick about 2 hrs after hunting Easter eggs. So we were on puke watch all night! Luckily he was only sick to his stomach that night, and the next day he was pretty ok...

Ammon is pushing the chair up to things and climbing and finding exactly what he wants... This is what we found the other day... Looks like Jason will be kid proofing the upper cabinets very soon... Welcome Malia Marie!!

Malia was born at 2:08 PM on 3/10. She came quickly... only 3 actual hours of labor per my nurse. Pushed 3 times... it was crazy!!

She was 18 3/4 inches long and was 7lbs 5ozs... she has a TON of hair and is surprisingly alert and responsive. Ammon has warmed up, his initial reaction was no a happy one. He was not sure how to feel or act but gave us the furrowed eyebrows...

Monday or Tuesday I'll be induced, so these are probably the last pics you'll see of Ammon as an only child! He has no idea how much his life is about to change. Neither do we for that matter probably!!

This was Saturday morning before I left for the Stake Primary Activity... Ammon was watching Cars (as usual) and Jason was sleeping... see any similarities?
Ammon was being extremely quiet (always raising a red flag) and I found him playing quietly. I've said it before, I LOVE finding him playing nice and not getting into trouble. He was playing cars... see in the background?
I guess they were all being parked in the garage? I dunno... it's so much fun to watch kids minds at work!! Notice they are all race cars with numbers, with the exception of Mater & a Tractor (one of his favorite scenes in the movie, Mater & Lightning goin tractor tipping). He is such a cutie and I just sometimes wonder what he will come up with next...

Pre-School Field Trip

So Ammon's pre-school class went for their field trip Thursday...we went to a local fire station. It was a lot of fun even tho Ammon's motor is running a million miles an hour these days!

Ammon and Duke are so funny. Ammon just loves going "outside back" to play and run around with our three dogs. Duke is his favorite by far. Duke lets him have a "back pack" (piggy back), lay on him, sit on him, pretty much whatever Ammon wants to do. Duke even gets on the trampoline with Ammon. He tells Duke to jump and just laughs and laughs..... I am glad he is such a layed back dog.

We came home from Walmart and Ammon lined up all the Gatorade's in the hall while I was putting the other groceries away. Then he brought me one to open for him.

I'm a Big Boy Now!!

Ammon is sleeping in his Big Boy bed now! We are so happy and proud of him. Night time is really easy, and nap time gets easier each day. I did not expect him to transfer over so fast and easy. Jason and I would put him to bed in his crib and then once he was asleep we would move him to his new room. He would wake up in his Big Boy bed and we would make a big deal about how neat and fun it was....... it worked!!!!! Hooray!!!!!! Now he knows where he goes nite nite. First time to NAP in his bed!!

This is one of his nap times...... he is laying the wrong direction, but hey whatever makes him happy:) ( notice James his choo choo in the picture)

Ammon is also very very interested in the potty.... He has gone 3 times total.... this is not something we are going to focus on until after Malia comes..... I have been told he will back track... I do not want to potty train him twice.....

We finally caught Ammon on tape doing some of his letters... he knows SO many more but it's hard to keep his attention long enough to get it on video!! Notice the beeping in the background and him asking what is that beep? Also, his new thing is he'll say he's shy if he's...well, feeling shy. So at the end with the singing, he's saying Shy, that's the kinda stuff I guess only parents can really catch!

Jason had off from the 25th to the 1st and what a busy week! Besides just the busyness of Christmas we decided to redo our master bath... and when I say we I mean Jason, I am 30 weeks prego you know!! Oh Ammon thought he was helping, Jason thought otherwise...but he was ok with him coming and going as long as he wasn't painting or putting down the tile... Not only did the bathroom consume the entire week, we took some time to go to the zoo as a family and celebrate our 7yr anniversary! Thank goodness for my mom being down here! Ammon certainly enjoyed all the sweet goodies that he only gets from grandma, and he can say grandma now very clearly...busy week but good!

Merry Christmas everybody!! We had a pretty great Christmas... Ammon got WAY too much stuff! We started shopping in October tho anticipating not having much to spend, but Jason's work always seems to come thru with gift cards at all the right times!! Last year Ammon was to young to really understand, we would help him open a present and he would just be interested in the paper...this year was different, we still had to help him open a present but once opened he was done and just wanted to play with that present. Next year he will be 4 months shy of 3yrs old and I'm sure he will be all in and we'll have to hide the presents until Christmas morning!!

So this morning I was doing laundry, I had a pair of fluffy warm socks rolled up together on the bed. Ammon got on the bed and was playing, then he saw the fluffy soft socks. So he grabbed 'em pulled them apart and put them on like gloves. After that he immediately started saying "down"... so I moved and he slid off the bed tummy first like he does and went straight toward the living room... I'm thinking what is this kid doing? What is going on in his head...it's obvious he's got a plan!

He runs up to the Christmas tree saying "tree" the whole way down the hall. When he gets there he starts touching the bubble lights (if you've never heard or seen bubble light you've got to, they are great. It's not a Filina Christmas tree in Jason's opinion without bubble lights). What's funny here is that he's always wanting to touch the bubble lights but they are hot, well warm but we tell him they are hot, so he heeds our warnings and doesn't' touch them. Well not today... he figured out how to get around that!!I never get tired of watching their little minds figure stuff out and put concepts together...

We haven't updated the blog in a while, we've been busy here with snot and puke and viruses and diarrhea and fevers and chills and no sleep!

Ammon got a cold, and an intestinal virus at the same time. The doctor ruled out the flu and no ear problems but said he was definitely sick with a mean cold and stomach bug!

He had a fever for 8 days without breaking!! It would be 103.8 then 3 hrs later 100.5 or something...which, I know fevers in kiddos this age will go higher than in us and even a temp of 103 is not reason for an ER visit, but for over a week solid? We contemplated ER visits & Urgent Care visits but we just kept treating the symptoms (which is what the doctor eventually said is all we could do)....

Motrin & Tylenol tag teamed every 3 hrs, which meant we were up every 3 hrs! Gosh... talk about tired!

And poor Ammon! He didn't laugh, he didn't play, he didn't even smile for the entire time. He just wanted to sleep and watch movies.... Cars, Toy Story, Nemo, Thomas the Train... over and over again (but mostly Cars).

He didn't eat, he drank a lot of water and gatorade and he's lost 2 lbs. But he's getting better now.

We forgot to take pictures during dinner. I had the wonderful privilege of cooking again:) :) :) LOL. Thank goodness for my mom being here and helping. I asked her a thousand questions. A few friends and I have put together a preschool that we have twice a week. We have a lot of fun and the kids really enjoy being together. Ammon is the youngest and does not participate as much as the others, but I love that he is interacting more with other children. He is getting better and better each day. We had a fun and long Halloween. We started the night out going to Trunk or Treat Community Party in Old Town Burleson, there were bounce houses and games and Fire Trucks and cotton candy and it was all free. We stayed there just a little while because it was so crowded...

We next hit our neighborhood and trick or treated with a bunch of friends. After trick or treating for about an hour we finished up at our house, had a pizza party (thanks Hunters, great idea) and watched Indiana Jones (thanks Hatchers, we'll bring that back soon) or Finding Nemo depending on which room you were in. It was a lot of fun, even if Ammon threw-up because he ate too much candy!! Now it's on to Thanksgiving and Christmas Shopping!!

He was so brave once he realized that people would just give him candy if he knocked on the door. He would go up and knock all by himself. He was sooooo cute.
He also had no problem grabbing a handful when he had the chance. Actually he would grab seconds and in some cases thirds........ it was so funny and embarrassing.......

It's that time of year again!! Halloween is fast approaching and yes we have Ammon's costume picked out. Last year he was a.... well I'll let you figure it out....(see the pic below), this year he will be Darth Vader.... yes Darth Vader...obviously Jason picked this one out! Anyway, pumpkin carving time!! It was so nice outside today that we set up one of Ammon's tables in the front yard and carved the thing outside. I think he would have been more into it if we had carved it indoors, there is way to much to distract him outside.

Ammon wasn't so keen on cleaning the Pumpkin out with his hands, he did get into it a bit more when we gave him a spoon to use. Anyway, pumpkin's carved and ready to go! We are enjoying the mild temperatures and keeping windows open and playing outside A LOT!! Enjoy the pics...

So we went camping this past weekend.... got to test drive our new 7 person tent with built in closets, yes closets as in plural. The company was great! Barbie & Mike, Jami & Ben, Mark & Krystal... I can't say the same for Ammon tho!! He was getting over an ear infection and between the warm days and cold nights he was not a happy camper, literally!! Sorry everybody for waking/keeping y'all up with his crying/screaming all night...did everybody hear that group of college kids in the middle of the night complaining "why would you bring a baby on a campout anyway?" Just wait little missy your turn is coming!! If it helps, even when he was sleeping we weren't, he kept squirming and shoving us all over the bed and we were in constant fear he was going to wake up and be inconsolable for another 20-30 minutes! We went so far the 2nd night to take him to the car and drive around to calm him down and put him to sleep!!

Anyway, we had fun with everybody and it was fun to get the kids out in nature and hike and swim and sit around the campfire eating smores! Some funny things that happened, Kaden making a "sand angel" in the sand, Dave's attempt at eating eggs, Hope feeding Ammon, Ethan hiding, and the line that marked where throwing sand was legal and where it wasn't.

We went to the park with Krystal and her nieces & nephew Saturday night. Ally is only 3 weeks older than Ammon, she's smaller in size but her vocabulary is like 5 times as big as Ammon!! She can say just about anything... I had a whole discussion with her about whether she was poopy or just wet...

Ok... this is the kind of video that may only excite parents but it's sooooo cute and just adorable. Ammon loves our trampoline, loves to play "jump,jump,fall" that he learned from the Moores and loves the camera these days. Rangers Game

Something we never posted earlier was our one and only trip to the Ballpark in Arlington to see a Rangers game this year!! We went on 9/6, with Amber & Sadie, the Rangers played the Red Sox! And we were witness to the one and only time they beat the Red Sox in 2008!! Ammon had a blast, but was mostly interested in walking the millions of steps and wandering around the kids area in the outfield.... And he tried cotton candy for the first time!

Ammon's "firsts" are really starting to add up! It seems like daily he's saying something new or signing something new (we are trying to capture some signs on video, they are really cute!) or doing something completely new that he came up with on his own... It's really amazing to see his little mind expand and make new mental connections and constantly surprise us! This is one such thing... when we say it's time to do something, could be anything, he finds it really funny to hide. But it's in only two places... one is behind this table and the other is in the closet in his soon to be room when the baby comes.

Right now he knows he's hiding from something but isn't sure what it is... those eyes tell us he's thinking its nap time!

First Time To Try Bubba

There are always some family dishes in every family that carry a tradition with them... not simply family recipes but they have a history, they are infamous and usually they are not really as good to those that marry into the family from which the dish sprang. Well Jason's family has a couple of dishes that seem to be revered. One that Ammon got to taste for the first time the other day was "Bubba." Bubba is really good and a treat when Nana makes some, it's basically a potato pancake that has been made in his family forever... they put applesauce on it and eat pounds of it at a time. There is a story that once their family was feasting on Bubba and Jason's dad & one of his uncles were full but wanted to eat more so they went out the front door and started running laps around his Nana's house to work up more appetite.... Jason was actually traded as a child to his Nana & Popo for weekends for trays of Bubba.

Lily's Baptism and BBQ

Well, a couple a weeks ago we had the opportunity to see Lilly get baptised and celebrate with a BBQ afterwards... It was a lot of fun and we got to hang out with friends we don't get to see very often and others we see more often and some we see all the time!! It was a great time, there is never a dull moment (or conversation) when you hang out the the McCorkles (even those "former McCorkles" see exhibit A ). Unfortunately we didn't take our camera, I know, no camera when we have a blog to keep updated!! What were we thinking?! Jason did have his camera phone but only took a couple of shots of Ammon on one of his new favorites... trampolines. We actually got Jason's trampoline back from his sister so Ammon is enjoying it in our backyard. Anyway... we enjoyed our Saturday at The Gov's!

We fed the missionaries tonight... Ammon didn't eat very well, new faces at the table made it hard for him to concentrate.

After they left with Jason I heard some rustling in one of the higher cabinets. I came into the kitchen to see that I left a cabinet open, a box of Club crackers lay open on the floor and the rustling had moved elsewhere.... I look over the counters and see that Ammon stole a bag of open Club crackers and was STUFFIN HIS FACE!!! It was so cute I couldn't get mad!! I just couldn't get my camera fast enough!

Superhero Birthday Party!!

We had the funnest Superhero birthday party on Saturday for Kaden. When you walked in the door there was a "batcave" that the kiddos had to go into and don their capes. The "batcave" was actually a huge 7 person tent. But the kids didn't know the difference.....

The kids got to decorate their own superhero masks, fight villains, arrest villains, then watch them escape. Cake, ice cream, sprinklers, fun in the pool, pirate hats, swords & shields, and a batmobile pinata....whoooo. I'm tired just thinking about it again and I didn't even put it all together. You did a great job Jami and crew...

Here is the kiddos handcuffing the "villains" with toilet paper.. Ammon is younger than the rest of the boys but he still had so much fun, even tho he didn't quite have the patience when it came to decorating his mask...

Playing in the Dog Food!

So I put on a video for Ammon so I could take a quick shower.... I got out and heard a strange noise! Wait... I recognize that sound... that is the sound of dog food pellets dribbling into the food tub. UGH!!! I could just imagine Ammon standing over the tub, elbow deep in the food, picking up handfuls and dropping them just having a grand time... how gross!! Dog food grosses me out, even the dry variety....

So I walk into the dining room and much to my surprise Ammon is not elbow deep outside the tub.... he is ankle deep INSIDE the tub!!! YUCK!!! He had managed not to spill even a morsel on the floor (that is a miracle) but he had dog food crumbs all over him, even on his cheeks....ICK. I couldn't believe it. I must have not closed the container all the way when I fed the dogs that morning. Needless to say, Ammon was taken straight to the bathtub after I got a blogworthy picture of course.

Ammon's New Buddy

Ammon was in his crib...just woken up from a nap and I heard him in there talking to someone? I peeked in and he was pointing and talking to something high on the wall opposite the crib... what could it be?! Well, it was this teddy bear. The bear was Jason's when he was a little kid and it's been sitting on the shelf since before Ammon was born. He didn't notice it until the other day... now he carries it around everywhere he goes!!

First OB Visit

Yesterday morning I had my first OB visit since getting pregnant, we were really excited!! What if I wasn't pregnant?! Sure I've been having all the symptoms but what if?! So we were really looking forward to that confirmation. And it's official, I'm pregnant... 7 weeks and 3 days pregnant to be exact! Due date is March 16th.

Ammon has recently started doing this thing and he did it yesterday morning as we were leaving for my appointment...

Me: "Ammon..... time to go byebye. You ready to go byebye?"

His response... runs away and gathers up everything he wants to take with him...

This morning he went and got a stuffed doggy with a Christmas hat, a smaller stuffed puppy and his new favorite toy...his golf clubs in their rolling carrier.

BTW.... he couldn't hold everything, but he was still looking for more!

Friday Night BBQ

Man o' man... it's been busy lately! My mom went home last Friday, she was recuperated enough to head home. Unfortunately she's found herself at my brother's house because she is having electrical problems at her place. Anyway, last Friday evening after she left we went to a good 'ol fashion BBQ with a bunch of friends....

Lots of kids running around, Ammon became pretty much addicted to sprinklers which is good because it's relatively cheap and easy fun for him.... he also, for the first time, genuinely wanted to get in the pool and had fun when he did!

The Zoo

Here are some pics of the Zoo... we went on Wednesday because it's half price! Ammon is hitting a good age to take him to the zoo, for one his vocabulary is growing he's up to about 15 words right now...he is also pointing and getting genuinely excited about things, he loves animals (as most kids do) dogs are probably his favorite. Jason had to work so it was just Me and Ammon and it was so much fun regardless of the heat!!!

Ammon also really likes riding things right now... he cried when I HAD to take him off the alligator to let other kids have a turn.

Ammon liked the Gorilla's, but they scared him if they moved to fast toward him...

Looking at the White Tiger.... I could just see Ammon trying to stick his fingers in the Tiger's nose, that is what he always wants to do with our dogs...

What? Am I on the wrong blog? That is probably what you are asking your self right? This looks like Mark & Krystal's blog..... well, this is what happens when everybody you know has a family blog... they all start to look alike!

We went to the little train in Fort Worth that runs thru Trinity Park. It's called Forest Park Miniature Railroad. It was fun.... kiddos had some fun, it was hot and Hopey was holding a grudge against the guy who took the tickets...she really wanted to keep the tickets. Overall it was fun for all...

The Birthday Party SOOOO Big One Blog Is Not ENOUGH!!

Last Saturday we went to a birthday party that can be seen on one other blog at least & maybe more!! Ethan & Aiden (cousins) both turned 3...their birthdays are so close together that their birthdays were combined into one MEGA birthday...

It was at Bouncin Bonanza... this great place that is a building full of those inflatable bounce houses. Pizza, cake, ice cream, bounce houses it was so much fun. It was obvious all the kids had a blast and the grown up kids did to!! I highly recommend this place, it's inexpensive fun in my opinion...we are definitely taking Ammon back to have some fun sometime. Enjoy the pics....
